The Shaky Divide: Revenge & Forgiveness

This workshop addresses the value of Forgiveness and the obstacles preventing it. We also explore how desires or impulses for Revenge acknowledged in psychotherapy are undervalued as beneficial in the therapeutic process. The workshop highlights the psychodynamic underpinnings of granting and seeking Forgiveness, and its alter, Revenge. The inability to forgive and the tendency to forgive too quickly is explored. Special attention is paid to the impact of guilt over vengeful urges, and of their denial.
