Mary Robinson Elected President of the Board of the Academy of Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis.
The Academy of Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis (ACAP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Robinson, MA, CT as President of the Board of Trustees. Robinson has served on the board since 2010 and has served on the Development Committee and as Chair of the Governance Committee.
Robinson, a resident of Madison, is a graduate of ACAP and is the Executive Director and Founder of Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss located in Mountainside, NJ and the Founder and former Executive Director of Good Grief now located in Morristown. She has over 35-years of business, management, technical, and training expertise in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. Mary has a BA in English, an MA in Applied Psychoanalysis and is a Certified Thanatologist. She is a member of the Association for Death Education and Counseling and the National Alliance for Grieving Children, and serves on the board of the Academy of Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis.
“My association with ACAP began in 2007 when I took my first course “Nurturing Resilience in Children and Adolescents” with Dr. Patricia Bratt,” said Robinson. “The course made a profound difference in my understanding of human behavior and motivation and how to help children become more resilient which was and is a personal passion of mine. I went on to get my Master’s degree at ACAP and to serve on the board and numerous committees, compelled by the transformation I experienced in my life personally and the applicability of my studies in my professional and personal life.”

In addition to running a sliding-scale mental health clinic, and iStrive, a program for youth on the Autism Spectrum who are aging out of traditional services, The Academy of Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis offers graduate, post-graduate, certificate and Continuing Education classes in Psychodynamic Studies and Mental Health Counseling at the Livingston, NJ campus and through distance learning. ACAP is nationally accredited by the American Board for Accreditation in Psychoanalysis.
ACAP offers alternative paths to mental health careers, as well as courses meeting Continuing Education requirements, to enhance clinical skills, or for personal growth for individuals in education, medicine, business, the clergy, parents and the arts, who seek something different from traditional programs in psychology, social work, counseling, or psychodynamic training.
